The Crown Chakra

Is your Crown Chakra Unaligned?

The word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” in Sanskrit. This is referring to the different energy centers in the body and each center corresponds to major organs and nerves in the body. To function optimally, these chakras need to stay balanced, but, because life is difficult and chaotic at times, sometimes they get blocked which can manifest emotionally or physically. Below we dive into specifically the Crown Chakra, what it is, and signs it could be out of alignment.

What is the crown chakra?

The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and is located at the top of the heard, or the “crown.” The crown chakra connects us to the universe and omits life force energy into the other chakras below it. Sahasrara is the Sanskrit term for the crown chakra and is represented with the color purple. The crown chakra is also directly connected to the head, brain, eyes, skeletal and muscular systems.

What are signs your crown chakra is imbalanced or overactive?

When the crown chakra is open and balanced, it can help you function physically and psychologically. However, if the crown chakra is blocked or even opened too much, then you may be feeling higher levels of frustration, poor health and sometimes even destructive thoughts. Some may even experience forgetfulness or struggles with memory, concentration or learning issues, chronic disorders, and over all aches and pains. Depression can sometimes be linked to an imbalanced crown chakra as well. Someone with an overactive crown chakra might specifically experience obsessive thoughts as well as an over consumption of spiritual practices to the point of neglecting their other responsibilities and even their health.

How can you balance it?

Thankfully, there is always a way to balance an out of whack chakra. Meditating with a focus on the crown chakra by focusing your attention to the top of the head and clearly setting an intention of balancing is a great way to get on the right track. Visualize a violet color when applying this focus and thank the universe. Utilizing crystals can also aid this process. Crystals such as Amber, diamonds, and Moldavite, can help activate the crown. You can also utilize scents such as white tulip, lotus, and general floral scents to pulse points during this meditation. Yoga poses can work wonders for the crown chakra as well. Specifically Shavasana, otherwise known as corpse pose, and Lotus pose, or Padmasana. These poses are great because they increase blood flow to the head.  The crown chakra is our direct connection to the Divine. It is the path with which life energy enters our bodies. We need this energy to thrive and keep our vibration high. When this is off, we lose our connection to ourselves and others.
